Wyoming Association for Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences
WATFACS represents the dedicated professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education—teachers who prepare students with essential life skills and career-ready knowledge in areas such as nutrition, child development, hospitality, and tourism. Many of our members also serve as FCCLA advisors, guiding students through real-world leadership experiences and career development opportunities.
Family and Consumer Sciences plays a critical role in Wyoming’s Career and Technical Education system. As our state works to grow strong CTE pathways and a skilled workforce, FCS educators are uniquely positioned to impact every student’s personal and professional life. Whether teaching practical skills, fostering leadership through FCCLA, or aligning programs with workforce demands, WATFACS members are essential to building thriving communities and resilient families across Wyoming.
President
Candi DeCoite
High School FCS Teacher
Candi DeCoite has been a dedicated CTE teacher at Horizon Alternative High School in Evanston for nine years. She teaches Culinary Arts, Textile Arts, College and Career Readiness and is the Work Based Learning Coordinator. Prior to teaching at Horizon she owned and operated a successful coffee shop/cafe and book store in downtown Evanston. Given the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of teaching, she sold the business and began her teaching career.
Before moving back to Evanston in 2011, she owned an organic farm in Eden, WY. Raising chickens and operating a two acre truck-farm, taking produce and eggs to local farmers’ markets. Growing up on a self-sufficient organic farm in Iowa sparked the desire to begin her venture in Eden.
Candi shared, “My life has always been about sustainability, organic gardening, creating culinary delights, and sharing this passion with my two children and the next generation.
I look forward to serving as President of WATFACS this year and planning events for the summer 2027 conference."
President Elect
Riley Billings
High School FCS Teacher
Riley is a second-year Family and Consumer Sciences educator at Worland High School. She loves teaching students practical skills that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Riley currently teaches three levels of Culinary Arts, Child Development, and Pro Subs, a course that allows students to earn their substitute teaching license before graduating from high school. She is always looking for ways to expand and grow her program at WHS, hoping to soon add embroidery and sewing to her course offerings. She also serves as a SkillsUSA advisor and enjoys helping students develop leadership, career, and technical skills.
Riley grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming, and began her college education at Sheridan College before transferring to Chadron State College in Nebraska. There, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Riley loves spending time with her dogs, Berry and Bella. They love to explore the mountains. She is also looking forward to coaching this upcoming volleyball season at Worland Middle School.
Riley is excited to serve as the WATFACS President-Elect and looks forward to helping grow and expand the WATFACS division. She is passionate about connecting with fellow Family and Consumer Sciences educators, and promoting the importance of FCS education.
